OUR STORY

 

1992

Steve Gennodie graduates from the Culinary Institute of America and begins his career as a chef at the Four Seasons Hotel in New York City. In 1995, the company relocates him to the Boston property and its celebrated restaurant, Aujourd’hui.

Mistral Rocky Neck Fish Company

1996

After meeting chef Jamie Mammano at Aujourd’hui, Gennodie becomes his opening executive sous chef at Mistral. Mammano’s Columbus Hospitality Group now includes that iconic Mediterannean bistro plus several other Boston restaurants, which are some of RNF’s best wholesale customers.

2000

Gennodie leaves the kitchen for the seafood wholesale business, using his restaurant connections to help grow sales for an established local fish purveyor.

Fruit Center Marketplace Rocky Neck Fish Company

2004

Gennodie and a partner launch Rocky Neck Fish Company from Boston, with two retail locations in Milton and Hingham. Both inside the Fruit Center Marketplace, Rocky Neck’s fish markets are the only independently run grocery store-seafood counters in Massachusetts that can buy directly from boats.

2012

Gennodie takes over RNF as the sole owner and president. He also dives back into restaurants with RNF’s first wholesale clients: Mistral, Ostra, and Grill 23. With Gennodie’s expertise and his anytime delivery policy, wholesale business grows steadily by word-of-mouth.

2017

Rocky Neck Fish Company adds seasonal farmers markets in Braintree, Cohasset, and Beverly to bring more fresh fish to the public.

Chatham Pier FIsh Market Rocky Neck Fish Company

2019

RNF purchases the landmark Chatham Fish Pier Market, a thriving seasonal fish market, expanding the takeout menu and the selection of fresh and prepared foods.

2021

RNF will open a fourth seafood market inside the new Previte's Marketplace in Hanover.
